Inn Cycle Path Stages through Tyrol
Inn Cycle Path stages: Across the Alps. From west to east. Always downstream. The Inn Valley Cycle Path follows the river Inn from its spring to its delta and winds its way through Tyrol in 5 stages over a distance of 211 km. Always with the fantastic mountain panorama in view. Past historically important towns, cultural highlights and excursion destinations for families. In between, culinary stops. An enjoyable tour without any significant altitude gain. At the beginning, the mystical alpine world of the Tyrolean uplands accompanies you along the Inn Valley. Then the landscape undulates into the flat, hilly Alpine foothills of Upper Austria and ends in Passau, where the Inn flows into the Danube. The Inn Cycle Path is easy to ride from the Swiss border, runs somewhat hilly, through lush meadows and mostly near the river on a steady gentle slope. Ideal for families and pleasure cyclists. Only the first stretch in Switzerland requires gears. Depending on your mood and conditions, the Inn Cycle Path can be cycled in individual stages. Longer, shorter, easier or more demanding - each cyclist can plan the length of each stage individually. If you want to shorten the route a little, you can also cover stages by train. Public transport also offers hop-on, hop-off options for taking your bike with you.

Route length: 46 km | Duration: 3:45 h
From the Austrian border, the Innradweg runs through lush meadows, somewhat hilly and steadily slightly descending. Mostly near the river Inn. The first stage on Tyrolean soil follows the same route as the Via Claudia cycle path. The absolute highlight is the medieval fortress of Altfinstermünz in a gorge just over the Swiss border. In Pfunds, the Inn Cycle Path passes right through the town's landmark, the "Turaloch" tower. In Tösens you pass the Roman bridge - probably the oldest bridge in Tyrol still in existence. Behind Prutz, the Upper Inn Valley makes a left turn. After about 8 km you reach Landeck, stage 1. Landeck Castle is also worth a visit.
Route length: 52.6 km | Duration: 3:45 h
From Landeck, the Innradweg long-distance cycle path leads flat through Perjen to Zams. There you must visit the gorge "Zammer Lochputz" with Tyrol's oldest hydroelectric power station! Then it's on to Schönwies and on towards Imst. In Imst, make a detour to the Rosengarten Gorge - a picturesque steep gorge with footbridges and wooden bridges on the Schinderbach stream. From Imst, the route continues with descents and gentle climbs, almost always along the banks of the Inn. Before the Roppen Tunnel, the route leads directly through the Imst Gorge. If you are travelling with family, we recommend a detour to the apple mile Haiming. The next important sight is Stams Abbey, one of the most famous monasteries in Austria. From there it is not far to the second stage destination Telfs at the foot of the Mieminger chain.
Route length: 28.5 km | Duration: 1:45 h
From Telfs, the Innradweg always leads flat and close to the banks of the Inn. Past Zirl with the Martinswand, popular with climbers. All the way to Innsbruck - the Tyrolean capital with its many sights. A must-see: Old town of Innsbruck with the Golden Roof, Ambras Castle, the Imperial Hofburg, Bergisel ski jump, Hafelekar on the Nordkette (accessible by cable car and the architecturally unique Hungerburgbahn).
Route length: 52.5 km | Duration: 3 h
From Innsbruck you cycle downstream on the left side of the Inn to Hall in Tyrol. HWest Hotel Hall is located directly along the Inn cycle path. From here you should definitely visit the beautiful, medieval old town, which is considered the largest in Tyrol. If you still have time, visit the Hall Mint in the medieval Hasegg Castle and the mining museum in a mining tunnel in the middle of the old town. At the town of Hall, a footbridge leads across the Inn and further along its banks in the direction of Volders. Across vegetable fields and Wattens, where a visit to the Swarovski Kritallwelten is worthwhile. Continue through Schwaz on the Inn Valley cycle path to Strass at the entrance to the Zillertal. In Schwaz, the medieval silver town, a detour to the old centre with the silver mine is also recommended.
Route length: 52 km | Duration: 3 h
From Strass the route always follows the banks of the Inn to Brixlegg. There you can make a detour to Kramsach and the Museum of Tyrolean Farms. Or you can cycle directly on to Rattenberg, the smallest town in Austria, which has a particularly beautiful medieval centre. The trail then leads through Radfeld and from there through meadows to Wörgl. From Kirchbichl, always with the river in view, the route is flat and asphalted all the way to Kufstein. A visit to Kufstein Fortress is recommended here. Afterwards, you cycle on to Erl with its famous festival theatre.
